Posgrados > MTI double degree > Admission process > Carnegie Mellon

In order to be considered for admission to the MSIT/MATI Double Degree Program, prospective students must submit applications to both ITESM and Carnegie Mellon University.  Students may submit one official copy of their transcripts, test scores and recommendation letters to ITESM (copies will be forwarded on the student’s behalf from ITESM to Carnegie Mellon).  The instructions below pertain solely to the Carnegie Mellon MSIT application form.  Please refer to the ITESM website for detailed instructions on how to apply to the MATI degree program.

1.- Please go to the home page of our online application system: https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=cmu-spp

2.- On the home page, there is a button labeled “Create Account”.  Please click on that button to create your personal account with our application system.

3.- Once you have created your personal account, you can begin to complete the application.  You will be brought to the Main Page of your application (you will be brought to the Main Page every time you login to the system).   Please scroll toward the bottom of the screen and click the Application for Admission link to enter the actual application.

4.- On the left side of the Application for Admission screen is a navigation bar that lists the various sections of the application.  Please follow the instructions below to complete the necessary information.

5.- You will need to complete most of the questions in the first few sections (there is an asterisk (*) next to each of the required questions), with the following items to pay close attention to as an MSIT/MATI Double Degree applicant:

Personal Information
Respond to all questions with marked an asterisk (*).

Degree Information
Respond to all questions marked with an asterisk (*).  Enter the following:

Program: Master of Science in Information Technology – Distance Learning

Please answer these questions as directed in the online application.

Employment Information

Enter Institution #1 (Undergraduate Institution) and respond with your data for your bachelor’s degree (even though it is not necessary to send the transcript from the school where you have earned your undergraduate degree to Carnegie Mellon).

Enter any additional colleges/universities you have attended (if applicable) in Institutions #2-6.

Go to the bottom of the screen and answer the final question: “Have you previously attended any program at Carnegie Mellon University?”

Test Information
Enter your GRE, GMAT or PAEP test information.  We will verify your test scores based on the official scores reported to ITESM.

Document Uploads

Upload a personal statement explaining your reasons for pursuing the MSIT/MATI Double Degree program.

Upload a copy of your Resume/Curriculum Vitae for our files.

You can ignore the rest of the section.

Supplemental Information
You can skip this entire section.

6.- DO NOT GO TO THE SUBMIT APPLICATION LINK JUST YET!  Instead, please go to the Recommendations section first.  Once you are in the recommendations section, click on the “recommendation provider list” button.  Once you are on the “Current Recommendation Provider List” page, click the “add” button.  Enter the information for the individuals who submitted letters of recommendation for you to ITESM, but do not enter their actual email addresses because they will not be submitting online.  Instead, please enter the following email addresses for each of your recommenders:  jakub@andrew.cmu.edu, deber@andrew.cmu.edu, enl@andrew.cmu.edu.  These email addresses are for Carnegie Mellon staff in the Office of Admissions who will know not to submit an online recommendation for you when they receive an email asking them to do so.

You can answer “Yes” or “No” to the question, “Do you wish to waive your right to examine this letter of recommendation?*”
ITESM will forward copies of the MATI recommendations submitted on your behalf to the MSIT admission committee.

7.- You can then go on to the “Check Your Application” step in the process (the last item on the left side navigation bar).  Make any corrections listed on the screen and then proceed to the Submit Application step of the process.

8.- You do not need to submit any supporting documents to Carnegie Mellon University unless you are asked to do so specifically by the Office of Admissions.  We will verify your credentials (transcripts, test scores, recommendations) with ITESM based on the official documents you submit to them as part of the application to the MATI program.
